Maccabee Apparel pays homage to the quintessential eishet chayil (woman of valor), Queen Esther of Persia. The Scroll of Esther, read publicly in synagogues on the holiday of Purim, recounts how with faith, courage, and a fair amount of chutzpah, Esther foiled the plans of the villanous Haman and prevented a holocaust.
In this creative reimagining, Esther is transported from the intrigue of the royal palace to the field of battle, avenging the People of Israel against their oppressors. In her hand, the royal decree of King Achashverosh, calling the Jews to arms, authorizing them to form militias and prevent the genocide Haman had plotted against them. Though she never raised a sword in real life (as far as we know), Queen Esther was a badass of the highest order. We hope that this will be the first in a series of products paying tribute to powerful Jewish women throughout the ages, such as Yael, Judith, and Deborah the Prophetess.
