There is a long, proud warrior tradition among the Jewish people that most people don't know or talk about. At Maccabee Apparel, we're aiming to change that. When God freed the ancient Israelites from slavery, the Torah says they "were armed when they went up out of Egypt" (Ex. 13:18). Ever since then, contrary to stereotypes, the Children of Israel have looked to the Almighty for protection, but have never been known to shy away from a fight. From the Maccabees and the Zealots of Ancient Judaea, to the Partisans of World War 2, to the defense forces of modern day Israel, and Jewish servicemen and women in the U.S. military and all over the world, all are proud Hebrew warriors with a lineage as old as the Bible itself.
The scroll in our "Sword & Scroll" design represents our primary traditional occupation as "People of the Book," while the sword backing it says "we mean business." The text on the scroll reads "Hebrew Warrior" in ancient Paleo-Hebrew script.
